Worldwide Nanotechnology Portable Fuel Cell Market Shares, Strategies, and Forecasts, 2009-2015
Submitted admin — Fri, 05/15/2009 - 12:47(Nanowerk News) Portable fuel cells are poised to achieve significant growth as units become smaller and fuels less expensive. According to Susan Eustis, lead author of the study, “Economies of scale do not entirely solve the inherent high costs of high grade metallic catalysts used in micro fuel cells. Nanotechnology is poised to provide new ways to create advanced materials that can be used to implement portable fuel cells. More catalyst price reductions are needed to make portable fuel cells competitive with thin film batteries.

New Russian microscope with record atomic resolution
Submitted empirv — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 10:16Development team of Carbonlight Ltd promises that with the help of their new Nanointroscope not only the atom could be observed, but even the electron shells around an atom nucleus will be visible. Presently, the microscopes with such resolution do not exist. Atoms could be detected only indirectly – by the peaks in the atomic-force microscope diagram.
The new device still exist only as a prototype that includes a source of protons and a detector based on the nanotube filled with cerium packrd into metal-fullerenes. The nanotube detector is placed on silicon cantilever.
DuPont Launches New Materials for Photovoltaic Modules
Submitted admin — Sun, 05/10/2009 - 00:00(Nanowerk News) DuPont today announced the commercialization of two new families of photovoltaic encapsulant sheets that are expected to improve durability and efficiency of photovoltaic modules. The new DuPont™ PV5300 Series and DuPont™ PV5200 Series deliver long-term protection for the most sensitive part of photovoltaic modules – the solar cells. They contribute to longer life and reduced cost-per-watt, helping system manufacturers deliver more reliable and cost-effective solar power.
Russian President Medvedev about high technology innovations
Submitted empirv — Wed, 05/06/2009 - 10:11The business is not willing to create an innovative economy. It is only possible to solve the problem of creating and developing the innovative economy and IT industry by establishing the network of small and medium size enterprises.
This announcement was made by Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev at the meeting with the winners of the student world championship in programming according to RIA Novosti. By his words it’s impossible to solve this problem by establishing large companies: “Here we created a State Corporation for Nanotechnology (RUSNANO).
