RUSNANO CEO conducts the first session of the Innovation Policy Committee of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs

The Innovation Policy Committee, established by the Bureau of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) on 18 March 2009, held its first session today. The Committee is comprised of executives from the largest companies and financial institutions in Russia (see complete list below). Anatoly Chubais, RUSNANO CEO, has been appointed as a head of the Committee. The primary focus of the Committee is to establish a uniform position for representatives of the business community—members of the RSPP—with respect to innovation policy in Russia.

RUSNANO and Virial to set up production of nano-structured abrasive resistant Items

The Supervisory Council has approved RUSNANO participation in setting up the production of abrasive resistant parts using nano-structured ceramic and metal-ceramic materials. The project was initiated by Virial LLC, one of the Russian market leaders in abrasive resistant ceramic and metal ceramic parts and units for oil production, refinery and chemical industries. Siberian Organics CJSC will co-invest in the project. The total amount of project investment is estimated at 1.6 billion rubles. RUSNANO will contribute 501.5 million rubles to Virial’s equity share.

The Second Nanotechnology International Forum in Moscow

The Second Nanotechnology International Forum will be held on October 6 – 8, 2009, at Moscow Central Exhibition Complex “Expocentre”. Forum program will consist of the plenary session, a complex of panel discussions and presentations of business program and science and technology sections, presentations of companies, devices and equipment.

RUSNANO and Japan’s Ministry of Economy to set up nanotechnology interaction workgroup

Anatoly Chubais, Director General of the Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies, and Toshihiro Nikai, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, have agreed to establish a workgroup for cooperation in the field of nanotechnology. The decision was made at a meeting during a visit to Japan by a delegation of RUSNANO. The initiative for the agreement was issued by the Japanese. According to RUSNANO’s Director General, the main focus of the interaction will be the selection of specific projects from Japanese partners’ applications to be implemented in Russia jointly with RUSNANO.

RUSNANO to Start Founding Venture and Seed Funds

Supervisory Council has approved the concept of RUSNANO participation in venture and seed funds. The document defines guidelines for RUSNANO participation in investment funds. Their creation plays an important role in developing the financial infrastructure in the field of nanotechnology.
