Connector Optics LLC
Connector Optics LLC is a hi-tech innovative company which was established in 2009 in St.Petersburg to launch the production of optical components for ultra-high speed data transmission via optical fiber networks. The co-investors are OJSC RUSNANO, VI Systems GmbH (Germany) and OJSC URALSIB (Russia).
At the moment, Connector Optics has the necessary patents for the production of 850 nm range ultra-high speed (up to 40 Gbit/s) vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) and photodetectors (PDs). The products are cost effective solution for local area networks (LAN), storage area networks (SAN), active optical cables (AOC) for computing systems and optical interconnects for the consumer market, such as USB, HDMI, and DisplayPort.
Connector Optics has its own capacity for fabrication of innovative nanotechnology products from epitaxial wafers of different purpose (laser diodes including VCSELs, PDs, microwave transistors and diodes) to the packaged devices based on them. Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) industrial technology is used for making the epitaxial nanoheterostructures.
Connector Optics is a team of professionals who came from A.F. Ioffe Physical Technical Institute and St.Petersburg Academic University – Nanotechnology Research and Educational Centre (Russia). These institutions are among the key world leaders in R&D of semiconductor lasers (In 2000, Academician Zhores Alferov was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics). The team has long-term work experience in the semiconductor industry (Svetlana JSC), implementation of specific and strategic projects, and participation in big international projects in Germany and Taiwan.
Connector Optics is continually carrying out R&D projects aimed at innovations implying both modification of the existing products and developing new types of nanotechnology products. The leading nanotechnology centers, such as the A.F. Ioffe Physical Technical Institute (St.Petersburg, Russia), the St.Petersburg Academic University – Nanotechnology Research and Educational Centre (Russia), the Institute of Semiconductor Physics Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk, Russia) and Berlin Technical University (Berlin, Germany), are research partners of the company.
Connector Optics welcomes partners from Russia and other countries for distribution of our products and cooperation in R&D.
